I found out just now that Madeleine L' Engle, one of my favorite authors, died last Thursday. And it's a weird feeling, encountering death again, after singing at the wake of Joven Velasco last Wednesday.
Yes, I am mourning. Her books 'A Wrinkle In Time' and 'A Ring of Endless Light' touched me deeply. I believe that at the time I was reading these books, the fact that Meg's father was a physicist and John was taking astrophysics at MIT actually affected my career decisions. In fact after posting this entry, I shall go back to comprehending (or at least trying to comprehend) hysteresis loops. I do not understand how Sir Val actually expects us to write a research proposal incorporating that which is "state of the art", since I could barely understand the articles of peer reviewed journals featuring the latest discoveries in physics.
Anyway, to my good friend Madeleine L' Engle, I pray that you are happily settled in Heaven. Your books will be continually read and shared among us who are bound to land. Thank you for sharing a part of you with me, together with all those that you have embraced with your writing. Kudos.
